映画「ワンダー君は太陽」から "Brand New Eyes" です。
全世界の大ベストセラー児童書で、子どもたちのために買った親の方が感動してしまうと評判になったこの本。原作者のR・J・パラシオさんがある日息子さんたちとアイスクリーム屋さんに行った時、顔に重度の障害のある子どもの隣に座ったそうです。その夜ラジオで流れてきたナタリー・マーチャントの「Wonder」という曲を聴いたとき本を執筆することを決意。この本の特徴は本人ではなく"接し方が分からない"と思われる側を描いたところで、海外では教材にも使われています。
オギー役には「ルーム」で大ブレイクしたジェイコブ・トレンブレイ、また母親にはジュリア・ロバーツです。"This is a superhero movie. To me, Auggie is a superhero" 「これはヒーロー映画よ、私にとってオギーはスーパーヒーローなの」というジュリア・ロバーツのインタビューでの言葉が印象的でした！
